With Jon Gruden now back in the coaching hotseat with the Raiders, Corona Extra has decided to draft former Dallas quarterback and current football analyst Tony Romo as the operator and face of its Corona Hotline, which returns for its second year this football season.

Tony Romo is the Corona Hotline's newest operator

Featuring a new number that is not operator-specific (the last featured Gruden’s name in the number), 1-844-9-Corona, fans can call the Corona Hotline all season long to tap into Romo’s powers of prediction, hear gameday reflections and enter for a chance to win prizes such as Corona gear or poolside seats in Las Vegas for the Big Game.

In a series of spots, Romo is at a beachside desk, taking calls from fans. In the introductory spot, Romo answers the Corona branded phone and says knowingly, “no, he doesn’t work here anymore,” before doling out guacamole advice.

In another, he tells a distraught fantasy footballer that he needs to grab a Corona, calm down and just watch the game without thinking about fantasy points. Two others, which will roll out throughout the season, have Romo in similar situations, telling people in sticky situations that essentially, a Corona will help solve their various football-activity-related problems.

“I am thrilled to join the team and man the Corona Hotline,” said Romo in a release. “Between fantasy match-ups and waiting each week for your favorite team’s game, football brings a lot of excitement. I am ready to help fans deal with the highs and lows of this football season, so they can kick back and enjoy with friends and family.”

Romo takes nearly all the snaps for Corona Extra’s Fall campaign – a complete 360-marketing effort done in partnership with Cramer-Krasselt, including TV advertising, retail programming, and social/digital promotion all centered around the Mexican beer's hotline.

“Football is back, and that means the Corona Hotline is, too,” said Ann Legan, vice president of brand marketing, Corona. “Tony has such a dynamic, fun-loving persona, and when paired with his incredible knowledge of football, he’s a perfect fit to help fans find their ‘Gameday Beach’.”
