People on the move: Tesco, LinkedIn, Ogilvy and Accenture

This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key moves from the EMEA, APAC and North America regions below.

EMEA people are on the move

Tesco

Angela Maurer has left her role as head of Tesco labs, ending her 18-year career with the supermarket. Since its inception, Maurer has helped steer the Tesco’s technology research and development arm. She was promoted from head of innovation to head of labs in 2014.

The Drum understands she will now join real estate firm Land Sec as group head of innovation. Tesco is currently advertising for her position.

BBH London

BBH London has elevated Ian Heartfield to the role of chief creative officer, with the move following on from his former joint executive creative director, Anthony Austin, departing the business.

In a statement, the London shop said Austin has left to "pursue opportunities outside of BBH."

The duo originally replaced Nick Gill as executive creative directors in July 2017.

Mediamonks

Mediamonks is reinforcing its European operation with the dual promotion of Jeroen van der Meer and Sicco Wegerif to the jointly-held position of managing director.

The duo – previously in charge of two of the company’s core departments: platforms and creative content – will now lead MediaMonks’ Amsterdam office focusing on creative and operational excellence.

Accenture

Accenture Interactive has appointed Adam Kerj as chief creative officer for the Nordic region. In this role, Kerj will focus on building Accenture Interactive’s creative capabilities in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. The appointment is part of a strategic effort to strengthen Accenture Interactive’s presence in the region.

Kerj was previously regional chief creative officer of McCann in the Nordics and, prior to that, creative officer of 360i North America and J Walter Thompson NY.

Mirum

​J Walter Thompson company Mirum has promoted Mark Newcomer to the new role of global chief strategy officer.

Prior to this, Newcomer handled strategy for Mirum in North America. He will continue to focus on strategy in his new role, across all of Mirum’s offices.

Lida

After 14 years with Lida, Matthew Heath has quit his job as chairman to take a chief marketing officer role at an undisclosed client, which will be announced shortly.

It is unclear who will replace Heath as Chairman for now.

Merkle Periscopix

Adam Guilfoyle has been promoted at Merkle Periscopix to the newly-created role of head of agency sales.

Guilfoyle joined MPX, Merkle’s performance media agency in March 2017 as commercial lead, programmatic. In his new role, Guilfoyle is responsible for leading all new business activity at Merkle Periscopix, including pitch process, prospecting and managing the pipeline.

Ralph

The creative agency Ralph has hired both Ligia Stan and Emma Worth, as it continues to expand its social media team to support active and upcoming client campaigns.

Stan, previously at Catch Digital and Unit9, has joined as senior creative social strategist. Meanwhile, Worth, previously at Thinking Juice, is coming on board as creative social strategist.

Both will support Ralph’s work with Twitter UK, in addition to managing social campaigns for The Crystal Maze, a host of blockbuster on-demand TV shows and Sony’s ongoing Lost in Music initiative.

Park Pictures

Park Pictures London has hired Bethany Reilly as head of sales and marketing. Reilly will represent the roster at Park Pictures in the UK and Amsterdam markets, developing talent, running events and sourcing commercial film projects. Frankie Singler, head of talent, is on maternity leave.

Reilly is to join Park Pictures from creative studio Sunshine where she served as head of brand. Prior to Sunshine, she ran PR and new business at the advertising agency Adam&EveDDB and led marketing and PR for visual effects company The Mill LA.

Fold7

Fold7 has announced five new appointments as they strive to boost its creative team. Joining the team is Simon Helm as senior creative, Maggie Roberts as head of creative services, Simon Hipwell and Matt Pam as creative directors, and Geneva Stanton as content creative.

Helm is joining Fold7 as a senior creative from Grey LDN, where he was creative director, returning to the Fold after starting his career there. Roberts joins Fold7 as head of creative services from Havas Worldwide, with previous stints at Ogilvy & Mather and TBWA.

Pam and Hipwell arrive at Fold7 from BMB to lead the agency’s creative team. Geneva comes to the agency in the newly-created content creative role from BMB.

APAC people on the move

Ogilvy

The WPP agency has announced the promotion of Matthew Nisbet and John Koay to the dual position of co-executive creative directors in Hong Kong.

The appointment follows Reed Collins’ promotion earlier in the year, expanding his chief creative officer role to North Asia (including Greater China, Japan, and Korea).

LinkedIn

LinkedIn has hired Alex Sibois as its head of agency and channel partnerships for marketing solutions in Asia Pacific, working out of its Singapore office.

The exec has been based in the country for close to three years and was most recently the senior vice-president and managing director of data management platform Lotame’s APAC operations.

Wunderman

The agency has hired former Accenture Digital exec Shannon Dix as its new chief executive officer for Singapore.

He joins from Accenture, where he led the consultancy’s ASEAN digital hub from Singapore. Prior to that he was director of global clients at Publicis.Sapient in China.

McCann Worldgroup Singapore

McCann has hired Angie Featherstone and Eirma Webster as group creative directors.

With over 30 years of collective experience gained from the likes of TBWA, Ogilvy and Batey Ads, Featherstone and Webster joined forces at BBH 11 years ago.

The duo are joining McCann from Leo Burnett, where they were responsible for helping launch SK-II’s global #ChangeDestiny platform, starring China-born celebrity Tang Wei.

Outbrain

Outbrain has announced that Yoav Tourel has been promoted to head of sales for Asia Pacific and Helena Gavros will move into the role of head of brands and agencies for Southeast Asia, where she will be responsible for the Amplify revenue for Southeast Asia, and will manage the sales team based in Singapore.

Meanwhile in India, Anand Makhija has been promoted to director of business development.

HubSpot

The inbound marketing and sales platform has announced the appointment of Shahid Nizami as managing director of Asia Pacific. Before joining HubSpot, Nizami led the account management teams across six locations for Google Cloud in APAC to drive successful new businesses.

Critical Mass

The design agency has hired Tim Cullinane as vice-president client partner for its Hong Kong office. Cullinane was most recently at Tribal. Meanwhile, Masayuki Tono has joined its Tokyo office as senior account director.

Live Nation

Live Nation Entertainment has hired Amy Marks as its first executive vice-president, head of integrated marketing for Live Nation’s media and sponsorship division.

Marks, most recently Bloomberg Media’s global marketing head, has nearly two decades of industry experience building multi-platform marketing strategies and campaigns.

360i

360i announced the appointment of business innovation leader Doug Rozen as its first-ever chief media officer, reporting to chief executive Jared Belsky.

Rozen will be responsible for further expanding and diversifying the agency’s media capabilities. He will officially join the company in late August.

Manifest Group

Manifest Group recently made two senior hires at Manifest New York, welcoming Shaun Beaumont as vice-president of brand and David Watsky as account director.

Madwell

Madwell, a full-service, Brooklyn-based agency, welcomes Sandy Sherman as vice-president of production and Lindsey Sims as director of media.

Sherman comes to Madwell from AKQA in Atlanta. Prior to AKQA, Sherman spent 12 years working in NYC as a founding partner at Canvas United.

Sims arrives at Madwell with 12 years of experience in the media industry, previously, at GroupM, where she oversaw several verticals within the IBM business.

Sandbox

Sandbox’s Sharon Polk was recently promoted to senior vice-president for account services, managing the Sandbox animal health and agriculture portfolio.

Polk's primary client responsibilities will include managing all strategic marketing and communications for Elanco Animal Health and Monsanto. Polk has been with Sandbox and McCormick (acquired by Sandbox) for the past 13 years.

Y&R

Y&R announced that Efren Vaca has been promoted to executive vice-president, managing director of Y&R’s Health and Wellness Practice, North America.

In this new role, Vaca will continue to expand the Health and Wellness Practice in the North America.

Tool

Tool of North America, a creative production partner to brands and agencies, announced that it has signed the creative technologist team nøcomputer to its innovation roster.

Nøcomputer is a team of creative technologists behind a new wave of advertising projects, where their specialities include building interactive installations and experiences, using code to design art, creating branded content and generative identities, as well as prototyping new types of software.

Postie

Zev Gollender, former vice-president of media sales at Taboola, has joined Postie as head of sales. Postie is a tech and data platform reinventing direct mail, making it behave like the best digital channels.

Gollender will lead the growth and strategic vision of Postie’s sales organization, including brand positioning in the market, team structure, and exceeding sales and revenue targets.

FCB

FCB Global has announced the promotion of Luis Silva Dias to chief executive of FCB International. The division of FCB was launched in 2013 to oversee growth and output of its operations in 62 markets, crossing Latin America, Europe and Asia.

Silva Dias, who had held the title of FCB International chief creative, has been part of this effort since joining in 2000. As a creative director in FCB Portugal, he was elevated to president and chief executive in 2005, then was named chief creative for Europe and the Middle East in 2008.

JW Player

JW Player has hired David Pashman as its general counsel. In this role, he will oversee the global legal function, including support for JW Player’s rapidly expanding sales and partnership divisions, as well as work closely with the company’s product and operations divisions.

Pashman is currently an adjunct professor at NYU School of Law where he also received his JD. He will be based in JW Player’s global headquarters in New York, report to Bill Day, and join the company’s executive team.

Paxos

This week Paxos has hired both Nancy Dornbush as global head of business operations and Dorothy Chang as vice-president of marketing and communications.

The two will lead Paxos on its continued mission to further the delivery of modern-day settlement solutions to the global capital markets.

OpenX

OpenX has announced the appointment of Todd Parsons as chief product officer. At OpenX, Parsons will be responsible for leading a global product team, and the planning, implementation and go-to-market strategy across the company’s entire portfolio of products.

Previously, he worked at Acxiom, leading product for the company’s marketing services business. Parsons also founded two venture-backed startups; Aditive, acquired by Acxiom in 2014, and BuzzLogic, the first SaaS platform for social media analytics and advertising.

AKQA

AKQA has appointed Lisa Rolf as director of production in the Atlanta studio.

Rolf will oversee the project management department and join the Atlanta leadership team.
