Wunderman acquired Gorilla Group to add to its ecommerce practice.

With this purchase, Gorilla Group has been added to Wunderman Commerce, which has been building enterprise-level retail, mobile, and e-commerce and solutions. Its 370 staffers in the US, Canada, Poland and Ukraine have been working on B2B and DTC brands in manufacturing, distribution, apparel, retail, health and beauty, food and beverage sectors.

Clients of the Chicago-based firm have included the American Hotel Register Company, Gates Industrial, and RXBar.

Neil Stewart, global chief executive of Wunderman Commerce, said: “This acquisition gives Wunderman Commerce a wider footprint across North America while also presenting an opportunity for our global clients to access the knowledge and skills of one of the best commerce experience teams out there.

“Gorilla’s leadership and award-winning work with key partners such as SAP Hybris, Salesforce and Magento is impressive and together we can provide brands and retailers with a best-in-class experience-driven commerce offering.”

Of joining Wunderman Commerce, Brian Grady, Gorilla chief executive, said: “Their ability to drive meaningful customer engagements and commitment to helping brands and businesses navigate the digital economy is something we also strive for. We are excited to be part of the future of commerce with Wunderman Commerce.”

Wunderman has seemed to integrate the growing e-commerce market into its offerings; recently, the WPP firm added retail vet Michael Murray to its leadership team as president and chief product officer for its data practices.
