The account, which has over 57,000 followers on Twitter, The Drum learned was not run by one person, but "a group of creatives who produce content for agencies and brands," said Mickey Taylor, one-half of the recently-hired duo of co-chief creatives hired by the agency.
Hour One, headquartered near Los Angeles, has a listed clientele that includes Kia, Applebee's, console game show Buzzr, Pedigree and Nissan. On the Hour One landing page, Adweak has been listed as a "snarky, sometimes self-deprecating, voice in social media" that has averaged more than 2.5m impressions per month.
Although the identities of Adweak's collective were not revealed, Taylor said: "It will be business as usual."
As for the reported bidding war implied between WPP and Omnicom, he noted: "That is actually a joke."
