Internet Society has appointed Immediate Future to consolidate its global social media presence. Driving the vision that ‘The Internet is for everyone’, there will be three primary cornerstones for social activity: bring diverse voices to internet governance; connecting the unconnected with community networks; tackling the security and privacy concerns of IoT.

Internet Society - created in 1992 to set the internet standards process - aims to support and promote the development of the internet as a global technical infrastructure, a resource to enrich people’s lives as a force for good in society.

Neville Hobson, social media strategist Internet Society, said: “Social gives the Internet Society’s mission a voice. An opportunity to widen debate, share knowledge and empower all to be better informed about how they too can be part of creating the Internet of the future.

“We know that the best and most lasting solutions are ones that we arrive at through cooperation and mutual respect. Social media adds to that by providing people around the world with a better understanding of the power we all have to influence the Internet - from the infrastructure to AI and IoT.”

Katy Howell, CEO Immediate Future, added: “The beauty of social is that it does a heck of a lot more than drive communications reach. It encourages discussion. And that is crucial to bringing the issues of Internet governance, security, community networks and more, to both consumers and policy-makers”.

Immediate Future work with clients including Interflora, Fujitsu and Diageo Global.
