Channel 4 consolidates commercial and agency roles as Damon Lafford leaves company
Channel 4 chief commercial officer Jonathan Allan is driving a restructure at the broadcaster with the consolidation of two executive roles: head of agency and client sales.
Channel 4 restructures sales and agency teams
Matt Salmon has immediately taken on the new joint role, while former head of agency, Damon Lafford, is set to leave the company at the end of August.
Channel 4 believes this will allow for a “more integrated” leadership of the agency and client sales team, which in turn will support Allan’s efforts to build a more comprehensive commercial structure.
Salmon reports to Allan, as does Ed Chalmers, head of trading, Jonathan Lewis, head of digital innovation and partnership and Tanya O’Sullivan, head of airtime management and ad operations.
Before joining Channel 4 in 2012, Salmon spent six years handling commercial at Hearst UK. He now serves in the head of agency and client sales.
On the departing Lafford, Jonathan Allan said: “Damon has made a massive contribution towards the success of 4Sales over the last six years. He’s been an outstanding leader and supportive colleague and I wish him all the very best for the future.”
The move comes after Allan’s own role was built out with to lead on the regions and nations expansion. This focus saw it reccently shortlist cities Birmingham, Greater Manchester and Leeds for its new headquarters.
