Gilbert, who flew out earlier this week, is understood to have taken the role of IBM’s chief marketing officer in Japan after two years in London. She was previously the vice president for marketing transformation in New York for nearly five years and has spent over two decades within IBM in various positions at the time of writing.

This is not the first time Gilbert has worked in Asia. In 2010 she moved to Shanghai to take over the position of vice president, marketing within the IBM Growth Markets Unit, spending nearly four years there before returning to New York.

A spokesperson for IBM would not comment on Gilbert’s new role other than to confirm that she would remain within the company.

IBM’s Japan headquarters are based in Tokyo, while it has other offices in Miyagi, Osaska-fu, Aichi and Fukuoka.
