Baidu bets big on Blockchain with rewards program rollout
Chinese search giant Baidu has announced the rollout of a new rewards program as part of Totem, its newly launched blockchain platform.
Baidu bets big on Blockchain with rewards program rollout
First launched in April, Totem was first conceived in order to harness blockchain technology to root out intellectual property rights violations for pictures and images, with sophisticated AI software helping to automate the process of tracing and monitoring copyrighted pictures.
Copyright holders are thus able to upload verified work to Totem to have their details permanently written into the blockchain itself for immediate protection.
Branching out further from those beginnings Baidu will now offer a rewards program for users who meet specific upload and image transaction criteria, expanding further the panoply of blockchain functionalities that even stretched to a ‘Cryptokitties’ game and even a blockchain-based operating system called super-chain.
Baidu is currently locked in battle with Tencent and Alibaba for technological supremacy, fostering a period of rapid innovation in Chinese tech circles, particularly in the field of self-driving cars.
