72andSunny has appointed Micah Walker as executive creative director for the agencies Sydney office.
Walker joins from Wieden + Kennedy Portland where he as creative director for the past four and a half years, working on brands such as Samsung, Dodge Chrysler, Booking.com and TurboTax.
Walker is a highly regarded creative talent in the local market having previously served as ECD at The Monkeys, Mojo and Leo Burnett. He also spent four years at Fallon London where he was a creative director and partner.
He joins 72andSunny’s APAC leadership team alongside APAC ECD Johnny Tan, director of strategy Mollie Hill, director of operations and talent Ngaio McCreadie and APAC managing director and partner Chris Kay.
Johnny Tan, executive creative director of 72andSunny APAC, said, “In a business that’s all about people, we could not be more excited about having an extraordinary talent and leader like Micah to be a part of our team. His experience in Australia and the US, as well as his unique care for the work, will help inspire truly disruptive work in this office.”
Chris Kay, managing director and partner of 72andSunny APAC, said, “We had a brief to find someone, who with the rest of the gang, could help us deliver on our creative ambition in Sydney. We wanted someone who had the perfect mix of local knowledge and a truly global track record, as well as having a wry wit, a good dose of mischief, and an ability to chew tobacco like nobody else. Micah was the only person we could find who would fit that bill, so we are pretty stoked he has decided to jump on board.”
Micah Walker, executive creative director, 72andSunny Sydney, said, “Almost five years ago, my family and I left for an adventure in Portland. As much as I loved W+K and the people there, not a day went by that we didn’t miss Australia. We’re stoked to be back home, close to family and good mates. And I’m genuinely excited to join 72andSunny and help the rest of the team here build something different and special.”
Walker is the latest hire for 72andSunny's APAC operation which launched offices in Singapore and Sydney in May 2017. The agency appointed Singapore managing director Lisi Davis in January.
