David Walliams and John Boyega front ‘Make Google Do It’ push

Comedian David Walliams and Star Wars actor John Boyega have been handed starring roles in Google’s latest campaign to promote Google Assistant.

‘Make Google Do it’ has been devised by R/GA London and Google’s own UK marketing team as part of an integrated global campaign spanning cinema, TV, out-of-home, press, display and social.

Designed to capture everyday events where the voice assistant could step in and lend a hand, the ads chart how Google Assistant can prove its mettle by scheduling a meeting, setting an alarm, setting up a call or even dictating a recipe.

Graham Bednash, senior director, Google UK consumer marketing, said: ‘This campaign is designed to show people the helpful things the Google Assistant can do - and do it with charm and wit."

A series of videos are planned in a similar vein to further flesh out just what the digital tool is capable of for the uninitiated; including the ability to download the app to your smartphone and activate from compatible smart devices.

This second flurry of activity will include appearances by Team GB’s Katrina Johnson-Thompson and future star Saoirse-Monica Jackson.
