The creative will report into Nick Beck, Tug’s founder and chief executive, with a remit to expand creative output across the digital agency’s network of worldwide offices. Tug is based in London, Toronto and Sydney.

Thomas’ role represents an ‘aggressive’ expansion of the shop’s staff base in 2018, having doubled the number of its clients over the past year. He will officially take up the post on 2 July.

Thomas led Lida’s creative in London’s Soho for just over two years. He spent nearly three years at SapientNitro previously and also has international experience from his stints at Brand Advocate and Saatchi & Saatchi.

“It is an incredibly exciting time to be joining an agency that has some seriously talented people who truly believe in joining the forces of media, tech and creative,” said Thomas. “I believe that very few agencies have managed to maximise data from a media perspective and get it to work successfully with the creative.

“Tug has successfully done this, and this was one of the main reasons why it is such a great fit for me.”

Beck added: “Tom has a wealth of experience as a creative director and as a seasoned chief creative officer. More importantly, he shares our vision and desire to make the most of creativity across all channels.”
