Former Australian cricketer Shane Warne fronts campaign for eBay AU

The e-commerce site has released a series of ads featuring the former cricketer who has made headlines over the years for a number of mishaps and embarrassing gaffes. The ads feature Warne expressing regrets about overspending on products and household items because he didn’t check eBay first.

The campaign builds on the brand’s positioning tagline, “But Did You Check eBay?”, and aims to encourage Australian’s to make the online retailer their one-stop-shop for shopping.

Julie Nestor, chief marketing officer, eBay Australia & New Zealand, said the campaign reflects Australia’s unique sense of humour.

“We’ve created a campaign that reflects the strength of our Australian business, without taking ourselves too seriously. We have some 40,000 Aussie stores on the platform, and we’re committed to offering the best prices on the top selling products in the country. Collaborating with Warnie has given us the perfect opportunity to remind Aussies of this strength, and have some fun along the way.”

The campaign was created by 72andSunny Sydney and is running on TV and online channels nationally.
