It appears Adidas won’t be cutting ties with Kanye West despite being quoted as having said slavery “sounds like a choice” during a recent interview with TMZ.

On Thursday, the company’s chief executive Kasper Rorsted said in an interview with Bloomberg TV that West is a “very important part” of its strategy, calling him a “fantastic creator.”

West designs shoes for Adidas under his Yeezy line. While Rorsted suggested during the interview that the artist’s line isn’t necessarily all that fruitful from a revenue standpoint, he nevertheless called it a “very important part” of the Adidas brand. He declined to reveal exactly how much the line brings in.

Rorsted also said Adidas hasn’t had any internal conversations about dropping West, although he did tell Bloomberg that “there are clearly some comments we don’t support.”

A petition on Care2 asking Adidas to drop its partnership with West currently has nearly 11,000 supporters.
