This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key moves from the EMEA, APAC and North America regions below.
Merkle has announced the appointment of Stefan van der Wielen as leader of its EMEA Decisioning Practice. Van der Wielen joins from Pegasystems, where he was regional delivery director.
Grant Parker has been appointed creative director and head of art at WCRS. Parker will report to executive creative director Billy Faithfull, working across the agency's entire roster of clients. He joins from M&C Saatchi.
Jo Sutherland has been appointed chief executive of Carat UK, with a brief to add to the agency's client list. She replaces Rick Hirst, who in turn is said to be up for promotion within the Dentsu Aegis Network.
Pladis, the owner of sweet snack brands McVitie's and Godiva, has hired Dmitry Ivanov as chief commercial officer. Ivanov previously served as global marketing director at Bacardi.
Burger chain Byron has appointed Steve de Polo as commercial and brand director. De Polo joins from pubco Ei Group, where he was responsible for sales, marketing, digital, food, insight and concept development.
Pizza Hut Europe has announced the appointment of Regina Borda as managing director for Pizza Hut Europe and Canada. She will be responsible for driving the business forward and managing the chain's 2,000 outlets.
The advertising and media industry’s support organisation, Nabs, has appointed AAR chief executive Kerry Glazer as its new president. Glazer will succeed Karen Blackett OBE when she completes her two-year term on the 1 May.
Florian Gramshammer has joined Impact as its new managing director, EMEA. Gramshammer previously worked at Conversant, Gartner and IgnitionOne.
Ellie Roberts has joined independent media agency Bountiful Cow from Arena Media, as head of planning. The hire completes the young agency's senior team after its first year in business.
Spark Foundry UK
Shula Sinclair has been announced as Spark Foundry's global head of strategy. The newly-created London-based role will see her drive overall product output. Sinclair previously served as senior partner for global strategy at Wavemaker.
Ogury has expanded its leadership team with the appointment of Elie Kanaan as chief marketing officer. Kanaan will lead Ogury’s marketing and communications initiatives while supporting the company’s growth plans.
The Bigger Boat
Yorkshire-based digital agency The Bigger Boat has made two new appointments with the hire of senior account manager Emma Heslop and junior account manager Ruby Ribbons. Heslop joins The Bigger Boat after 20 years in the design and print industry.
VR licensing and publishing specialist Blend Media has announced the appointment of Noyonika Bhaduri as chief marketing officer. Formerly global marketing director of Media iQ Digital, Bhaduri has been briefed to drive growth for engaging VR content.
Publicis Groupe has named Surbhi Gupta, in a newly created role as chief talent officer, Publicis Groupe South Asia and Pankaj Vasani as chief financial officer, Publicis Groupe South Asia. Publicis Groupe also announced the creation of a Groupe Leadership Team across India and Sri Lanka.
Gabriel Yap has been appointed as regional marketing director for southeast Asia and south Asia. Yap will be based in Singapore and report to Yogesh Gandhi, managing director of Asics Asia.
Derek Chang has been named as chief executive officer of NBA China to oversee the league's business development in the country. Chang, who joins from Scripps Networks Interactive, will be based in Beijing.
Michael Stich has been appointed chief business officer for VML, with a brief to lead the expansion of VML’s advisory practice with a focus on helping the agency’s most senior clients build marketing capabilities.
Y&R has announced that Yusuf Chuku has been appointed as chief strategy officer of North America. Chuku joins Y&R from McCann New York, where he served as executive vice president.
Edelman announced the appointment of Marie-Claire Barker to the role of global chief talent officer. Barker arrives from WPP's Wavemaker, where she was lead talent executive.
Reebok has announced the appointment of Melanie Boulden as vice-president of marketing. Boulden joins the company from Crayola, where she was senior vice-president of global marketing.
Mars has promoted its vice-president of marketing Michele Oliver to the newly-created role of global corporate brand and purpose director. Oliver was behind a global push for diversity among Mars's brands, including pro-Pride Skittles stunts and casting of people with disabilities in Maltesers ads.
Nike's Converse brand has appointed Sophie Bambuck as chief marketing officer, following the the departure of Julien Cahn who left for fashion brand Supreme in February.
