This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key moves from the EMEA, APAC and North America regions below.

EMEA people are on the move

Teads

News UK’s former head of magazines, Jacque O’Donnell has joined Teads as group commercial director.

As well as News UK, O’Donnell also worked as director of agency sales at Immediate Media.

STV Productions

Rosy Marshall-McCrae has joined STV Productions as the first head of factual development.

The appointment comes as the production company announces plans to grow both locally and internationally, with Marshall-McCrae strengthening the documentaries and factual team.

True North

Former BBC executive Kieron Collins has been appointed as True North’s head of entertainment.

Alongside Collins, who will take on the role later this month, Fiona O’Sullivan has been promoted from executive producer to head of factual entertainment and reality.

Wonder London

Steve Boatman has joined Wonder as production director to manage to production team as well as oversee all production related output at the agency.

Previously, Boatman worked in Southeast Asia at Quest music festival and was a senior production manager at Avantgarde London.

Nars

Nars has appointed Benjamin Lord as executive director of global ecommerce and consumer decision journey in the global marketing team.

Joining from various roles, Lord bring experience from WPP, Sopexa and Omnicom where he worked on brands including Unilever, L’Oréal and Calvin Klein.

Goal

James Dickens has joined Perform Media as global editor-in-chief of Goal from Yahoo where he held the role of head of Sport.

The role will not only oversee Goal’s global audience but also join Perform Media’s product and content group.

Starcom UK

Starcom UK has promoted Elliot Millard and hired Kay Martin.

Millard has been promoted to managing partner, head of planning, a newly created role, to oversee UK planning and ensure strategies are in place. Meanwhile, Martin is re-joining the Publicis Groupe after spending time at Havas to take on the role of managing partner, clients, the former role of Millard.

Tui

Tui’s marketing chief Jeremy Ellis has announced his departure from the company after 27 years in the fold.

Ellis will vacate the marketing and customer experience director role in May, having held it since May 2011. He was responsible for brand, CRM, insights, content, social and digital marketing and helped digitise the brand.

GroupM

Industry veteran Irwin Gotlieb is stepping down from his role as global chairman of media agency GroupM and will move into a senior advisory role at its parent company WPP.

Gotlieb has worked within WPP since 1999, when he joined as global chief executive of Mindshare, and was one of the architects behind the formation of GroupM where he served as global chief executive from its launch in 2003 to taking up the chairmanship in 2012.

Pinterest

Pinterest has confirmed that its recently appointed senior vice-president of ad products Jon Alferness is no longer with the business.

Alferness joined Pinterest in July 2017, he was promoted to succeed departing president Tim Kendall in December. In February of this year, he returned to overseeing ad products exclusively after Pinterest hired former Square exec Francois Brougher as chief operating officer.

APAC people on the move

Gyro

The Denstu-owned creative agency has promoted Paul Hutt to chief growth officer for APAC and Laura Bell to client services director for APAC.

Valtech

The adtech agency has appointed Andrew Davenport as its new managing director for Australia.

Joining from The White Agency (now known as WhiteGREY), Davenport is charged with driving the Valtech global offer in the Australian market.

Merkle

The Denstu-owned data-driven performance marketing agency has appointed Ted Stites to executive vice president, customer experience and marketing technology solutions for the APAC region.

Stites will be responsible for the creation, execution, and overall performance of Merkle’s experience and marketing platform business, as well as remaining closely aligned to Merkle’s alliance and software partners.

Rakuten Marketing

The performance marketing company has tapped former HuffPost Australia chief executive JJ Eastwood as managing director of APAC to replace Anthony Capano, who has moved to London, where he now leads the company’s European operations.

Starcom Singapore

The Publicis Media agency has appointed Bhavna Shewakramani to the role of director of performance. She transfers from Performics Chicago, and will be serving as liaison to the best of Performics capabilities to impact clients of Starcom Singapore.

CtrlShift

The audience solutions company has tapped Benjamin Ting as head of revenue, AMP.

Based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Ting will be tasked with driving growth for AMP, a multi-publisher, multi-geography marketplace for premium inventory and data. He will report directly to CtrlShift chief executive, Dominic Powers.

Ogilvy CommonHealth Australia

The agency has announced Kristina Luburic’s promotion to the role of general manager.

Previously director of medical communications, Kristina takes over as general manager from Gary Pattison who has led the agency since 2013, and will retain his role as chief executive, WPP Health & Wellness AUNZ.

IPG Mediabrands

The media arm of Interpublic Group has promoted David Haddad from managing director to chief executive for IPG Mediabrands Singapore.

Haddad joined IPG Mediabrands Singapore as managing director in September 2016.

Grey

The WPP agency has promoted Yashaswini Samat to chairman and managing director of Grey Group India.

Based in Mumbai, she will work closely with Nirvik Singh, chairman and chief executive, Grey Group APAC, Middle East and Africa, to expand on Grey’s roadmap of collaborative and innovative solutions for clients’ business problems as well as continue to build upon the Grey brand in India.

Dentsu

Sonal Patel has been hired by the agency to become president of programmatic services for Dentsu Aegis Network Asia Pacific.

Previously the managing director and vice president for APAC at AppNexus, Patel will be responsible for developing a strategic-products roadmap and a distinct, articulate data-led programmatic proposition across the APAC region, to deliver the growth and group’s ambition of being a 100% digital economy business by 2020.

Trade Indy

The Australian programmatic trading desk has hired Alex Hetherton as group managing director, Simon Crean as director of Product and Rick Mulia as director of Supply and Data.

Lotame

Lotame has strengthened its APAC team with the appointments of Evengy Popov as vice president of data solutions, APAC, Gaurav Seth as managing director, India.

It has has also strengthened the EMEA team with Alison Harding being named vice president of data solutions, EMEA.

Bloglovin’

Bloglovin', a blog discovery platform serving influencers and followers, announced the appointment of former vice president of strategy and business development, Kamiu Lee, to chief executive officer.

In the position, Lee is responsible for guiding the company’s full-scale rebrand to 'Activate,' an influencer marketing agency merging human strategy, technology and data innovation on the company’s proprietary self-serve influencer marketing platform.

Jaguar Land Rover North America

Jaguar Land Rover North America has appointed Stuart Schorr to the newly-created position of vice president, communications leading both the North American public relations operation and the consumer communications team, which includes advertising, retail marketing and digital marketing.

Vice

Vice has named Donna Lamar and David Lennon as group creative directors. Together, Lamar and Lennon will work under Tom Punch, global chief creative and commercial officer.

Lamar joins from Twitter, where she served as creative director, Twitter Studio. Lennon, who initially joined Vice in 2017 focusing on Vice News and Vice Money, will join Lamar in leading the creative teams. Prior to Vice, Lennon was global creative director at Wall Street Journal's Custom Studios.

Warchawski

Agency Warschawski, has promoted Nhu Nguyen to senior videographer and multimedia designer. In her new role, Nhu is responsible for leading and executing multimedia solutions for the agency’s clients, including overseeing photography and video work, as well as designing print and digital materials.

The Shipyard

The Shipyard has appointed David Sonderman to chief creative officer. Sonderman joins the company from GSW Advertising as the latest in a string of recent hires.

Sonderman’s previous experience includes work on brands such as Apple, HP, PGA Tours, Victoria’s Secret, BMW Financial Services and Listerine.

United Entertainment Group

United Entertainment Group (UEG), a global entertainment, sports and lifestyle marketing agency, announced three new hires to its senior leadership team to support the agency’s continued international growth and expansion of its sports and licensing business.

Joining the agency will be industry veterans Thomas Caravella, as senior vice president of licensing, Michael Brown, as executive vice president of sports, and Tim Collins, as managing director of UEG’s UK office.

UM

Marketing and media agency UM, has appointed Joshua Lowcock as global brand safety officer.

Lowcock will lead the agency’s global effort to ensure brands’ advertisements run appropriately against other work.

Zenith

Cassandra Stevens has joined Zenith as global commerce director, a newly created role, in the hope of driving global offering from the business.

With experience in data, technology and innovation, Stevens will be responsible for defining Zenith’s overall direction in commerce services.

360i

360i has announced the appointment of Piper Hickman as group creative director.

Together with group creative director Alex Shulhafer, the pair will lead creative for clients including Hanes and Champion, among others. Piper joined after an extensive seven-year freelance stint at companies including JWT, Ogilvy, Taxi, Y&R and McCann.

USA Today

USA Today announced that Maribel Perez Wadsworth will become the publisher of the daily publication, effective immediately.

Wadsworth has replaced John Zidich, who announced his planned retirement in November. She has retained her responsibility over the USA Today Network’s $1 billion consumer division, overseeing content strategy and operations, and has kept her role as president of the USA Today Network.

Scrum50

Marketing agency Scrum50 is expanding to DC with the hiring of agency veteran Craig Wishner as vice-president of strategic accounts. Wishner joins from 360i.
