A bout of consolidation within the European digital sector has seen 13 creative firms come together as one entity – international digital agency Dept.
This will pull together the experience of TamTam; Expand Online; a Friend of Mine; Second Degree; eBrella; Unskippable, Be Excellent, superReal, Trust Agents and Tricode together with Irish agency Webfactory and Building Blocks, which has offices in the UK, US and Spain.
The 10th member of Dept, the Netherlands' Studio Dumbar, will stand apart from the pack and retain its own identity as ‘part of Dept’.
Based in Amsterdam, the newly formed business will see all its partners operate under the Dept name, joining a network with 750 staff operating from eight countries with a turnover in excess of 80m euros.
Dept managing director Dimi Albers said: “Dept started as a network of specialist agencies working together to bring innovation and acceleration to our clients' marketing, brand, digital products and services ambitions. This has benefited a number of our joint clients who now work daily with integrated Dept teams combining our creative, technology and data experts.
“We believe that working as an integrated team aligns well with our clients’ integrated brands, so we have decided to all come together to become Dept, a single agency sharing one single mission and vision.”
Consolidation looks set to be one of the dominant themes in ad land this year, with the boss of the world's largest advertising group, WPP's Sir Martin Sorrell, promising to crank up his firm's merging of agencies this year.
