Betway appoints OMD UK as media agency

OMD UK have landed the media account for global gambling firm Betway following a four-way pitch in which it secured the account valued at over £30m per year.

OMD will handle media services on Betway’s behalf within the UK from April onwards, broadening its existing client base which includes the likes of Barclays, PepsiCo and McDonalds.

Betway chief executive Anthony Werkman commented: “The possibilities this partnership presents us in the UK are incredibly exciting. We look forward to OMD keeping the Betway brand front of mind among our target audience, while adhering to the strict responsible marketing principles that run throughout our business.”

Dan Clays, chief executive of OMD UK, added: “We are absolutely delighted to be appointed as Betway’s UK media agency partner. We’ve been massively impressed and excited by the ambition of the business, the potential of the Betway brand proposition and the opportunity for media innovation.”

Betway is a principle partner of Premier League football club West Ham United - a relationship which forced it to apologise for a tweet criticising one of its midfielders - and specializes in online sports betting, casino, bingo and poker.
