According to reports, the Obamas would produce shows for the streaming service focusing on “uplifting stories”.

Eric Schultz, one of Obama’s senior advisers, stopped short of confirming the news but admitted it would make sense.

“President and Mrs Obama have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire,” he said.

“Throughout their lives, they have lifted up stories of people whose efforts to make a difference are quietly changing the world for the better. As they consider their future personal plans, they continue to explore new ways to help others tell and share their stories.”

First reported by the New York Times, possible show ideas centred around issues such as health care, climate change and immigration, but would stay away from commenting on conservative critics and current president, Donald Trump.

At present, Netflix is still to comment on the reports and if the Obamas would be paid for their involvement.

Last year, Schultz was the keynote speaker at The Drum’s Future of Marketing conference where he shared what it’s like to work for the Obamas, tips on managing communications and advice for UK politicians.
