HuffPost UK taps former BuzzFeed head of news curation Andy Dangerfield

Andy Dangerfield, new HuffPost hire

HuffPost has bolstered its senior news team with the appointment of BuzzFeed alumnus Andy Dangerfield.

Dangerfield was recently offered voluntary redundancy by BuzzFeed, where he served as head of news curation, as part of its UK job cuts that saw a third of staff leave. He will serve at the Oath title in a similar capacity as executive editor of distribution building on his experience, in particular, of pushing BuzzFeed’s political coverage across multiple platforms.

In his new role, he is charged with building audiences and driving reader loyalty to the Oath brand.

HuffPost UK editor Polly Curtis said: "I am so pleased that Andy is joining our team. He comes to HuffPost UK with a breadth of excellent experience and will be important in our drive to ensure that our distinctive voice is delivered in exciting new ways to existing and new audiences across multiple platforms."

He joins recent hires Jess Brammar as head of news from BBC Newsnight and Vicky Frost as lifestyle editor from The Guardian.

The BuzzFeed UK staff are fairly redistributed across former rival titles, ex-editor Luke Lewis is now building audiences online for i.

Dangerfield recently wrote for The Drum about audiences at BuzzFeed.
