Airbnb marks 10th anniversary with the launch of deluxe Airbnb Plus service
The deluxe service strand is geared toward discerning guests who demand the most photogenic homes and avuncular hosts, with only those properties deemed good enough to tick off a 100-point checklist covering everything from comfort, to design and cleanliness allowed entry.
As part of the refresh, the hospitality marketplace will also introduce four new tiers of accommodation; vacation home, unique, B&B and boutiques, in order to allow travelers to more readily find the accommodation of their dreams.
These will be complemented by Airbnb Collections for family and work, soon to be augmented by Airbnb Beyond this spring following the services acquisition of Luxury Retreats. Last but not least Superhosts will be able to take advantage of a range of new member benefits and the most exceptional guests will also be recognised for the first time via a Superguest category.
Airbnb co-founder, chief executive and head of community, Brian Chesky said: “10 years ago we never dreamed of what Airbnb could become. In fact, people thought the idea that strangers would stay in each other’s homes was crazy. Today, millions of people every night do just that. But we want to go further by supporting and expanding our community so that in 10 years’ time, more than 1 billion people per year will experience the benefits of magical travel on Airbnb.”
Last month, Airbnb set aside $100k to promote rental listings within countries denigrated by US president Donald Trump as 'shitholes'.
