She will take up responsibility for all brand marketing efforts in addition to leading up the corporate affairs and its social good Bigger Picture programme.

Klein had been UK chief executive of marcomms group Engine since 2010 and was promoted to the wider Europe and Asia role in 2016.

In her new role she will report to Sky chief executive Jeremy Darroch, who said: “We are delighted to welcome Debbie to Sky. She is an outstanding leader, who has an excellent track record and I know that she will be a great addition to our leadership team. We are all very much looking forward to working with her as a colleague, as we build the next chapter of Sky."

Klein reflected that she has worked with Sky as clients over the last few years. “The opportunity to step inside at such an exciting time and be part of shaping the future was one I simply could not pass up. It has been a privilege to lead Engine and I know I leave it in great shape, with an outstanding leadership team who will continue to grow and evolve it.”

Klein began her agency career as a strategist, becoming head of planning at WCRS in 1999. She worked for clients including BMW, Mini and Sky and was a founding partner in the buyout of WCRS in 2004, from which the Engine Group was created.
