Google introduces Google Assistant in Hindi to combat Siri and Alexa

To add competition to Apple's Siri and Amazon's Alexa, Google has now introduced Google Assistant in Hindi for its user base in India.

To access it in Hindi, users have to set the language preference on their Android devices to English (India), as reported by Gadgets360. The feature is also limited to certain words. On being given a command by users, the Google Assistant will transcribe the command in English but reply back in Hindi.

However, Goggle Assistant is yet to be formally launched and is currently only available within the Allo messaging app.

A Google spokesperson told Gadgets360: "The Google Assistant on Android phones and iPhones is currently available in English in India, built for English input but supporting a few selected Hindi queries. While we've launched the Hindi Google Assistant on Allo, it's not available on phones yet. We are looking to bring the Assistant experience to more Indian languages over time."

Google was declared as the most authentic brand in India followed by Microsoft and Amazon according to Cohn & Wolfe’s Authentic Brand Study in 2017.
