A team of creatives from ethical agency Nice and Serious are the latest to use innovative creative to encourage boob checking, releasing a playfully artistic animation and microsite entitled ‘Touch Yourself’.

The colourful hero film features a variety of different animation styles to convey the methods women should use to check for signs of breast cancer. The music track, composed by web developer Marcel Legane, is layered to add a 1980s ‘sexy vibe’ to the fun but provocative video.

Touch yourself was dreamed up by Legane, motion designers Jade Evans, Giulia Bavagnoli and Guillaume Le Roux, and film editor Serafima Serafimova.

“The [breast cancer detection] resources we found online were quite clinical, so we wanted to create a short animation that was helpful and fun,” said Evans. “But we didn’t want to just stop there. Alongside this, we developed a microsite, which provides straightforward advice and useful links about where and how to check for signs of breast cancer.”

The team from Nice and Serious took on ‘Touch Yourself’ as a passion project, backed by the agency’s Nice Works scheme. The initiative allows staff to take a creative lead role, collaborate with others and explore new techniques around any social issue they care about.

The campaign follows CoppaFeel’s irreverent #TrustYourTouch, which was the first ad to screen full-frontal boobs on British TV pre-watershed, and #ManBoobs4Boobs, which side-stepped the censors by using male chests to demonstrate detection techniques.
