Despite CBS and Viacom's vice chair Shari Redstone's interest in combining Viacom and CBS, there is no active merger discussion currently taking place, according to Reuters.

Multiple insiders have told TheWrap that Shari Redstone is pursuing a merger of the two media companies that split more than a decade ago.
The controlling shareholder of Viacom and CBS Corp, Sumner Redstone split Viacom and CBS into separate companies which he and his daughter attempted to merge the two in 2016, but the effort failed.
National Amusements, CBS and Viacom declined to comment.
Viacom recently snapped up influencer platform Whosay as it looks to bulk up branded content offering.
