As the end of 2017 approaches, The Drum has asked leaders in the industry what has put a bee in their bonnet this year via the medium of AdVent.

For Alex Lubar, chief executive at McCann London, it’s Brexit that has caused the biggest irritation, with clients less likely to invest with long-term spend and talent unsure of their future in the company.

Explaining his fears in the above video, Lubar said: “When the Brexit news came out 18 months ago there was an immediate anxiety and recoiling from clients in terms of the amount they were spending ... as they tried to assess what the new landscape would look like.

“My hope is that in 2018 there is a greater medium and long-term commitment to spend. Frankly, the train of commerce needs to leave the station well ahead of any formal decisions being made on Brexit itself.”

McCann's global business has been featured in The Drum's Creative Works frequently throughout 2017, while the New York office continuously made headlines for its work on the Fearless Girl creative.

More entries into the AdVent series will be published through out the week.
