Brands like MAC, Jack & Jones and Triumph to make their debut at the Lazada's Online Revolution sale

Lazada earlier formed an alliance with small and medium sized companies to help them leverage Lazada's online shopping event themed 'Shop the Universe' and its users in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

For its sale, Lazada inked deals with travel portal Agoda and banks like Citibank and HSBC to give shoppers the chance to win items like discount vouchers. Also, brands like MAC, Benefit and Laneige, as well as fashion labels Jack & Jones and Triumph will make their debut in the sale this year.

Lazada empowered its delivery services for the event. Apart from running 130 of its own delivery centres across six countries, Lazada also works with more than 80 delivery companies like SingPost, Pos Malaysia, and Indonesia’s JNE, allowing it to deliver to every region.

According to Maximilian Bittner, chief executive officer for Lazada Group, the Online Revolution has succeeded in levelling the playing field for consumers across the region.

He said: “It doesn't matter if you are in Bandung, Cebu, Bangkok or Singapore, consumers anywhere in Southeast Asia now have access to Lazada's universe of products and awesome deals. They no longer think twice about ordering products online, choosing top international and local brands that were previously never available to them."

Lazada claims that last year, shoppers in Southeast Asia ordered some two million items within the first 24 hours of Online Revolution 2016. Among the top sellers last year were virtual reality glasses, smartphones, shower gels and mascaras.

Only a few months back, Alibaba increased its stake in Lazada to 83%, up from 51% previously and the move has helped Alibaba maintain its position as the best e-commerce site in APAC.

The sales coincide with Alibaba's 11.11 Singles Day shopping extravaganza on Tmall and its 12.12 shopping festival on Taobao.
