Atlanta-based indie Chemistry brings in two executive creative directors

Anja Duering and Carl Corbitt

Atlanta-based agency Chemistry has hired Anja Duering and Carl Corbitt as executive creative directors.

The appointments come on the heels of a number of new business wins for the independent shop, including RA Sushi, YouTube, Red Bull, TIKD and Atlanta United FC. The Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau also recently named Chemistry its creative and strategic lead as it ramps advertising efforts for major city events like Super Bowl 53, which will be played at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Corbitt joins Chemistry from Fitzgerald & Co, where he served as group creative director. Throughout his career, he’s also held creative roles at agencies including CP+B, 180LA and Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam.

Duering was previously creative director at 180LA, a role she left in 2015. Throughout her career, she has served as creative director at agencies including Wieden + Kennedy and CP+B.

The pair will be tasked with driving innovation and client return on investment across Chemistry’s roster. They will report to Chris Breen, Chemistry’s chief creative officer.

“As Chemistry has grown in size and capability, we’ve been able to bring dynamic, innovative ideas to the table, which we’re pleased have caught the attention of a wide range of brands,” said Ned Show, chief executive of Chemistry, in a statement. “Our new talent will help to bring these ideas to life. Anja and Carl bring energy, attitude and experience that complements our team and brings a fresh perspective to our client work.”

Last year, creative shop Breensmith merged with Chemistry to form a 100-person agency with offices in Atlanta and Pittsburgh.
