Snapchat will commence the global roll-out of Context Cards later this afternoon across iOS and Android, dovetailing with recent updates to Snap Map and Search.

Conceived as a quick and simple visual ‘launchpad’ to additional information on anything you come across on Snapchat, the Context Cards enable users to simply swipe up on specific Snaps to obtain additional reviews, opening hours, directions or transport options.

Powered by content partners including TripAdvisor, Foursquare and Michelin, the update enables streamlined navigation for such varied actions as requesting an Uber, booking a holiday or reserving a restaurant table.

Some locations will also have Stories integrated within the Context Cards in order to ease the process of finding more Snaps from places of interest.

Snapchat’s latest innovation follows on from its not trouble-free launch of an AR art installation, which ended up being subverted by a New York graffiti artist.
