HebCelt Fest, Action for Children and Curated Place snap up top prizes at The Drum Scottish Event Awards

Along with snagging the Festival of the Year award, HebCelt Fest snapped up the top grand prix prize for HebCelt 2016, an honour which recognises the best of the best in events.

Chairman of the judging panel, Damian Clarke, managing director, Undercurrent said: "The organic growth of HebCelt is testament to the hard work and passion that the team have put into making this an international success. What a wonderful example of an event bringing both social and tourism benefits to a small community via authentic and genuine cultural amplification."

Action For Children impressed Clarke and won the Chairman’s award along with Cause Relate/Charity Event of the Year for its work on Yes Chef!

Clarke said: "A totally unique entry and one which deserves much recognition. Yes Chef! Is a great example of a cause related campaign which provides a genuine solution to a growing societal problem, helping young offenders change their lives forever and turning what was a negative time in their lives into a real positive."

One of the areas that the judging panel are keen to really push next year is the student category. This year’s winners of the student event of the year are Robert Gordon University for Affa Fine Artisan Afternoon.

The judges expressed that there are strong ideas coming from students who have very little budget to work with, and professionals should be making sure that exciting talent is making its way into the industry.

Other winners include: Curated Place for events team of the year, Tricker PR for Event Marketing/PR Strategy of the Year, Centre for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow for Unique Venue of the Year and Duns Castle Estate for Venue of the Year (capacity of 399 or less).

For a full list of the winners please head over to the events website. The Scottish Event Awards will be back for 2018, so register your interest now.

Sponsors for these awards are: EventScotland, Adlib, Grand Central Hotel, Your Event Scotland, JLA, EFX and TINT
