Freshii, the Toronto-based healthy, fast-casual chain, has its sights set on the sky. Beginning in October, Air Canada will serve a selection of Freshii’s offerings on hundreds of its flights per day. This is a part of a larger strategy by the brand to expand into untapped markets, such as putting restaurants in various Target locations.

Signature items, like the Pangoa Bowl and Fiesta Wrap, will be available on flights for lunch and dinner. Items like the Avocado Smash Box will be one of the options available for breakfast. Freshii options will vary by flight but can be found in the onboard menu.

“Through this partnership with Air Canada, the sky is the limit when it comes to delivering on the Freshii mission of making healthy food convenient and affordable to citizens of the world,” said Matthew Corrin, founder and CEO at Freshii, in a statement. “With restaurants operating in over 80 cities and 16 countries, it’s safe to say that I am a very frequent Air Canada flyer myself, and I am proud to partner with this global airline to support their innovation for the benefit of their customers and our guests, alike.”

Founded in 2005, Freshii has 80 locations in 16 countries — and now in the sky. The brand went public at the beginning of 2017 and has plans to expand to 840 locations by 2019.

“We’re excited to bring Freshii’s innovative meals and snacks as a new option to our North American onboard bistro service,” said Benjamin Smith, president of passenger airlines at Air Canada, in a statement. “This partnership offers increased choice to our customers as we continue to improve on our ‘Best Airline in North America’ Skytrax status.”

In March 2017, Corrin wrote an open letter to Subway, saying that the two should build a partnership, where “select Subway stores” would be converted “to Freshii restaurants in a quick, low-cost way.” In 2015, he also wrote to McDonald’s CEO, Steve Easterbrook, saying that the two companies should partner to give Americans the healthy alternatives they deserve. He wrote, “Americans should not have to wait so long to access healthier alternatives. That is why I am issuing the following challenge to your company: Partner with us. Save the world, and help yourselves.”
