Amazon India promotes its big to keep ahead of Flipkart

The Amazon Great India sale has begun to mark the occasion of Independence Day in the country.

In a similar style as it's annual sale, Prime Day, the India-focused 96-hour sales event has been devised to entice customers to shop with Amazon by offering sizeable discounts across hundreds of thousands of products.

Amazon India continues to combat its Indian rival, Flipkart via this which has recently launched ‘The Big Freedom Sale.’ Amazon's sale is a day longer than Flipkart's.

Amazon is promoting the sale aggressively on social media platforms and has even rolled out an ad.

Manish Tiwary, vice president - category management, Amazon India said, “With the great Indian sale, we are excited to bring together exciting and fantastic deals from thousands of brands and sellers across a vast selection of products in all types of product categories. Customers across the country can buy products of their choice with assured fast & reliable delivery."

Amazon Pay users will get extra 15% cashback up to INR 300 and can enjoy fast and easy checkouts. Online customers using SBI debit and credit cards can get cashback up to INR 1,500 - 10% and 15% if they shop on the app.

Amazon is making the most of out of Indian festivals, as it earlier asked people to slow down and #DeliverTheLove in a Raksha Bandhan campaign. Earlier, in US, Amazon used traditional media to ensure Prime Day 2017 is its biggest shopping event yet.
