The Drum has expanded its headcount in Asia Pacific, hiring commercial and editorial staff for its regional headquarters in Singapore.

Senior business development manager Gavin Floyd moves to Singapore from The Drum’s home in Glasgow. He is the first commercial hire for the Asia Pacific business and has been moved to build commercial support for The Drum, as well as for upcoming special projects such as the Singapore Creative Cities print supplement and The Drum Digital Trading Awards Asia Pacific.

Floyd, who has been with the Drum since 2013, has moved to help grow the business in Asia Pacific and service locals needs, a key focus for The Drum as it aims to become the biggest global marketing and advertising publication.

Gordon Young, co-founder and editor in chief of The Drum, said: “Moving Gavin over to Singapore signals further investment into the Asia Pacific business of The Drum and a commitment to the region in the long-term. Timing is important, with the Singapore Creative Cities special and the Digital Trading Awards Asia Pacific on the horizon. There is also a myriad of The Drum’s global offerings that are still very new to the region, so continued investment in headcount will help us tailor these to the needs of our readers and partners.”

The Drum has also boosted its headcount editorially, this week hiring Shawn Lim as reporter for Asia Pacific, based out of The Drum’s Singapore office. The Drum has also hired Taruka Srivastav as reporter for India, one of The Drum’s biggest audiences in Asia Pacific, to help grow coverage in the country.

Earlier this year The Drum hired Danielle Long as Asia Pacific correspondent to take on the task of coverage from China, as well as picking up news and features about her home country of Australia.
