YouTube has confirmed its video editor and photo slideshow features are to close in September due to lack of use.

According to reports, users failed to take to the service instead relying more popular editors including Apple’s Final Cut X and Adobe Premiere. Tools including trim, blur and filter will be added to YouTube’s Video Manager once the editor is removed.

Writing in a blog post on the YouTube Help Forum community manager, Marissa Morrill, confirmed “limited usage” of the features had lead to the decision. “We’re retiring them to focus our efforts on building new tools and improving on other existing features,” she wrote.

One such area YouTube is focussing on is its TV service YouTube TV which recently expanded into 10 new markets including Atlanta, Detroit, Charlotte and Washington D.C. airing local programming from ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox.

Officially launched in April, YouTube TV positions itself as a competitor for Dish’s Sling TV, AT&T’s DirecTV Now, Hulu’s live TV service and Sony’s PlayStation Vue.
