Just like Ellen’s 2014 Oscars tweet eventually lost its retweet title to Wendy’s and #NuggsForCarter, so too has Psy’s Gangnam Style finally been unseated as the most watched YouTube video of all time.

The new all-time views leader – and the number to beat – is Wiz Khalifa’s See You Again from the movie Furious 7, with 2,903,601,587 views since April 6, 2015.

The homage to actor Paul Walker, who died in 2013, overtook Psy earlier this week. Since its 2012 release, Gangnam Style has 2,896,445,062 views.

Psy certainly had a good run, even breaking YouTube’s view counter in 2014. Psy himself took the views title from Justin Bieber’s Baby in 2012. Baby had about 800m views at the time and was the most-watched video for two and a half years.

Funny enough, Engadget noted Luis Fonsi’s Despacito, which has a remix featuring Bieber, has nearly 2.5bn views since its release five months ago. However, it is the version of the song without Bieber that is expected to overtake Wiz Khalifa as the next most-watched YouTube video of all time.
