Facebook gets approval for local office in Indonesia

The government is currently processing the details according to Thomas Lembong, chairman of Indonesia's investment coordinating board.

The social media giant currently operates in Indonesia via an office in central Jakarta.

"I see good intention and spirit from Facebook," said Lembong. "What we care about are taxes and responsible content."

The investment board and communication ministry are looking at the type of business unit Facebook will establish according to Lembong.

Facebook has yet to respond to queries about the new local office.
