Clarke will join fellow Amaze alumni Wendy Stonefield who The Drum reported had also joined the creative digital consultancy last week as a director.

The pair were both on the board of the Manchester and London digital marketing services business until late last year when they followed chief executive Natalie Gross in departing.

Stonefield was the St Ive's owners agency's chief commercial officer and spent nearly two decades with the business.

Sam Roddick, UK head of Deloitte Digital, said he was "thrilled" the two had come on board: “Now that digital commerce is an essential part of how any business engages with customers, we are seeing an increased demand for multidisciplinary skills to help deliver on our client’s ambitions. As Deloitte continues to grow as a creative digital consultancy, Matthew and Wendy will be an important part of our plans going forward.”

Both will be based in the Clerkenwell Studios of Deloitte Digital with a remit to grow its content and commerce team.

Last month Deloitte Digital announced the acquisition of Market Gravity, a digital design firm with operations in London, Edinburgh and New York. It also hired mobile ad industry veteran Ilicco Elia from DigitasLBi as its head of mobile.
