Arsenal have partnered with Universal Pictures in a deal which will see the club promote upcoming film releases from the US studio.

As part of the deal Arsenal players like Mesut Ozil could feature in trailers for Universal Pictures releases

Under the terms of the agreement the Premier League club will allow Universal access to their first-team players to create original content for marketing campaigns supporting new releases.

In addition to distributing the content on their own social channels, Arsenal will also promote the films through LED perimeter board exposure at their home ground, the Emirates Stadium.

“This partnership with Illumination and Universal Pictures is the first of its kind for the club and one we are extremely excited about,” said Vinai Venkatesham, Arsenal’s chief commercial officer.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for both the club and the studio to be introduced to new audiences and we are already working closely with them to engage with our supporters in the UK and Ireland around their upcoming film releases.”

The deal is similar to the partnership which Manchester United struck with 20th Century Fox in February last year. In that time United players such as Wayne Rooney have featured in trailers for Logan, Independence Day 2 and Deadpool.
