Propeller worked with their long time client Young's to help build and launch their new app. Propeller explain the objectives of the product and the solution they used to achieve success.

At the end of last year, Propeller launched Young’s On Tap – the first app for our long-standing client Young’s. We wanted to offer an interactive experience with an emphasis on the option of mobile payment to simplify the payment process, especially in a group setting.

Young & Co.’s has always been digital innovators in the pub space and very much wanted to respond to an increasing customer need to facilitate mobile payment in pubs. On Tap was developed as an extension of their already best in class approach to customer service.

The aim of the project was to produce a product that excelled in the hospitality space and allowed Young & Co.’s to communicate with their customer base in an innovative way as well as to appeal to a new customer base.

The result and creation of the app is just the beginning of a new and innovative customer experience which each of the Young & Co.’s pubs and customers can share and participate in to create strong partnerships and shared journeys.

The launch of Young’s On Tap App really allowed us to communicate with customer in an innovative way as well as to appeal to a new customer base.

It was designed to be as easy and simple to use as possible and an in-depth user journey was created to ensure that the path from the user opening the app to accessing the feature needed was done in as few steps as possible.

Some of the main App features include:

Find a Pub – based on the users GPS location so they can identify their “local” pubs

Book a table – booking and reservation functionality

Change the Tune – integration with the pubs sound system and Secret DJ allowing the users to dictate the playlist

Pay your bill (QKR integration) – quick and seamless mobile payment with single or split bill payment options

What's On – events and promotions that can be controlled and updated by individual pubs in real-time

We're looking forward to the future progression on On Tap and the endless opportunities.
