Howard will help the group continue to develop its sports endeavors, as well as develop their portfolio companies.

“I have always had a passion for business and always wanted to pursue different things post-baseball,” Howard said. “We all hit it off and had that common goal of working with good, nice, fundamental people, so it took off from there.”

In February, the group teamed up with Rubicon Talent, the management and sports marketing agency, and Howard will help to develop entrepreneurial opportunities with athletes, such as Greg Olsen, DeMarco Murray and Kerri Walsh Jennings.

“Just like with sports, you have got to have a great team of people and I felt like SeventySix was that perfect fit,” Howard said.

Additionally, Howard partnered with SeventySix Capital’s portfolio company, Whistle Sports, in December to create an episode in their “No Days Off” series.

According to managing partners Wayne Kimmel and Jon Powell, Howard “will leverage his business acumen and relationships to source new opportunities for the firm and take portfolio companies to the next level.”

According to, Howard was playing with the Atlanta Braves’ minor league affiliate, who released him from his minor-league contract on Monday.

“Right now, as I continue to pursue playing some baseball, this is where I lean on John and Wayne a little bit but there’s some exciting things that are brewing right now,” Howards said. “I will be able to participate and chip in in different ways.”
