Skittles Mother’s Day ad documents a man’s uncomfortably close maternal bond
Mars-owned confectionary brand Skittles has underlined the connection we share with our own mother in crass fashion with an ad showing an odd duo sharing a meal the most unconventional of ways.
The 30 seconds ‘Umbilical’ spot, as the title suggests, shows a grown man taste Skittles via his fleshy and unholy bond with his mother.
Having been fed the nutrient intake afforded by Skittles, the son is able to guess the colour of each mouthful, offering a twisted take on the Taste the Rainbow mantra.
DDB Chicago delivered the ad. Here’s some Twitter feedback from some disturbed Twitter users.
Is being out of your goddamn mind a prerequisite for working on the Skittles ad team or what https://t.co/fr3fnqAdtB

This skittles Mother's day ad is seriously repulsive @Skittles https://t.co/zyfD9vdgji — Peggy Zaman (@peggyzaman) May 9, 2017
The unnerving ad comes out just in time for Mother’s Day this weekend and is one of the more unsettling pieces of work to emerge although PornHub’s Mommy’s Special Glasses work comes close.
