Eurosport builds excitement for sports coverage with mock Hollywood movie trailer

Eurosport has created a mock Hollywood style film trailer as part of its marketing efforts to promote its upcoming summer of sport.

The 'Fuel Your Summer' spot promotes Eurosport’s broad portfolio of sports across cycling, tennis, athletics, swimming, football and motor racing.

The promo stars athletes who will feature in its coverage over the coming months including tennis champion Roger Federer as ‘the Artist’, Tom Kristensen as ‘Mr Le Mans’, Eric Cantona as the ‘Godfather’ and the fastest man in the world – ‘The Man of Speed’ - Usain Bolt.

The spot uses an array of typography, borrowing from genres including westerns, horror films and action films to compare the upcoming sporting events to films such as Indiana Jones, Back to the Future and the Terminator.

Events being touted in the trailer include Giro d’Italia, the Tour de France, Roland Garros and the Uefa Women’s European Championships.

The ad will air throughout the summer on Eurosport’s linear, digital and social channels.

Eurosport has vastly grown its portfolio of sports coverage following Discovery Communication’s takeover the broadcaster in 2015. Since then it has agreed terms with the International Olympic Committee to become the exclusive pan-European broadcaster of the Olympics from 2018 through the 2024.

As part of its marketing to become the new ‘home of the Olympics’ Eurosport has acquired the broadcast rights to many Olympic sports, including all four tennis grand slams. It now has partnerships with over half of the Olympic sports to feature at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
