Audio streaming company Spotify could be eyeing a foray into wearables or hardware as hinted by a recent job posting.

Spotify is potentially looking at tech

The Spotify official careers page saw an ad for a “passionate and seasoned senior product manager,” earlier in the week. It's now either been filled or removed from the site, as the company has made no prior announcements underlining an interest in hardware.

The listing continued that applicants would have to “deliver hardware directly from Spotify to existing and new customers; a category defining product akin to Pebble Watch, Amazon Echo, and Snap Spectacles.”

The position has been removed from the site, perhaps as a result of ZatzNotFunny first covering the listing – and linking through to the cached job listing.

Applicants are required to “Drive Spotify’s invention and innovation success from a hardware perspective” from the Stockholm office.

While Spotify is already compatible with an array of devices including smart home and smartwatch tech, it looks like the company could branch out from software and streaming into hardware that would optimize the listening experience in some form.

A Spotify spokesperson declined to comment on the job listing.
