The Pulmonary Vascular Research Institute (PVRI) has appointed digital marketing agency, Sagittarius, to develop a new digital learning initiative to further facilitate education of a commonly undiagnosed illness. PVRI is a charity that brings the best medical professionals in the world together to reduce the global burden of pulmonary vascular disease (PVD) through excellence in clinical care, research and education.

PVD, which can be more commonly described as high blood pressure in the lungs, is a fatal illness that can affect people of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds. It is estimated that over 60m people in the world suffer from the disease, although this figure could be much higher as the illness is often undiagnosed or misdiagnosed.

Sagittarius will manage the web development of the PVRI online identity, which includes a digital learning portal, intended to drive awareness and improve the diagnosis and treatment of PVD. The initiative is being developed to shadow a real-life scenario as closely as possible, including patient and specialists video content and imagery, authentic medical charts, data and test results (with all contributors remaining anonymous).

Aaron Shefras, marketing manager at PVRI said: “Developing this digital learning initiative is an integral step towards achieving our mission as a charity. Building such a rich and interactive PH educational experience that is second only to shadowing a practicing clinician in the real world is something that has not yet been achieved in the field. We are excited to partner with Sagittarius to build something that will immediately impact the quality of treatment received by patients for this fatal disease worldwide.”

Natalie Waite, digital account manager at Sagittarius said: “Sagittarius is thrilled to be working with the PVRI and specialists in pulmonary hypertension on such a prestigious and important project. We are confident our work will not just fulfill the brief, but exceed expectations and redefine the way web agencies approach training applications within the medical arena. We are excited to stand alongside the PVRI to present the beta version of the “Pulmonary Hypertension Digital Learning Initiative at the 4th Annual Drug Discovery & Development Symposium in Berlin, in July.”

Sagittarius’ current client portfolio includes Contiki Holidays, Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Spencer Private Hospitals and Ski Weekends.
