McDonald’s has announced a process of all-change at the top with the departure of US chief marketing officer Deborah Wahl alongside two other executives, revealing that former PepsiCo chief marketing officer Morgan Flatley will wade into the breach.

Flatley will continue the role at the fast food chain having held various positions at PepsiCo in a decade-long career and a previous stint at Saatchi & Saatchi.

The boardroom shake-up follows the promotion of Chris Kempczinski as president of McDonald’s US, together with the elevation of Farhan Siddiqi as head of US digital and the parachuting in of former Starbucks vice-president Linda VanGosen.

In a statement Kempczinski said: "This is an exciting time for McDonald's as we continue to raise the bar on how we prepare and source our food, offer our customers more modern experiences and redefine convenience through new initiatives like delivery and mobile ordering and pay.

"I am confident these new team members will help McDonald's only accelerate the already great progress we have made in the U.S."

McDonald’s is currently in the process of streamlining its restaurants with digital ordering and table service.
