Unilever will be on the lookout for a new UK and Ireland media director as Alex Tait departs to launch a consultancy venture, drawing from his 17 years of experience in the industry working with some of the biggest brands.

He claims that he will be returning to his roots as a consultant to push the change agenda. Having worked at Unilever since 2015, Tait has been at the coal face of the marketing industry and understandably has decided to strike out on his own at a time when his expertise in media has never been more in demand.

Tait’s first project is ‘media related’ and in partnership with consultancy MTM.

On stepping down from Unilever, he added: “I've thoroughly enjoyed working at Unilever last two years, working with the incredibly talented team at Unilever and at our agency partners we've delivered a real step change in our communications. I'm also proud to have worked in a business with such a compelling purpose.”

As well as most recently working as UK & Ireland media director at Unilever, he has also held senior leadership roles at a diverse range of companies including American Express, Royal Mail and Kellogg's.

Tait is also a columnist at the Drum, his first piece discusses brand purpose.
