McCann follows AI creative director with mindfulness meditation robot at SXSW

McCann debuts minidfulness meditation robot

McCann Worldwide Japan has debuted what it claims to be the world’s first mindfulness meditation robot that will help guide meditation at SXSW.

The robot named “Shiromaru” is part of an innovation project, McCann Millennials, run by millennial employees of McCann Worldwide Japan. Shiromaru will be running demos for SXSW visitors at the Digital Content Association of Japan booth.

This automation of mindfulness meditation follows McCann Japan’s creation of the first artificial intelligence creative director, which went head to head on a project against a real creative director last year. The project was a big talking point for the industry last year around the inevitable automation of jobs, including creatives.

The robot will guide the mindfulness meditation demonstration for an experience of looking inward and conversing with oneself. Research results have shown that meditation improves ability to learn and inspire, with businesses starting to offer such programs to their employees.
