BBC Player adds Malaysia to Asia-first VOD service rollout

BBC Player now has a second Asian home in Malaysia, with partner Telekom Malaysia (TM), allowing the subscription video-on-demand service to be viewed online or via an app.

Access to BBC First, BBC Brit, BBC Eart, BBC Lifestyle, CBeebies and BBC World News will be available via TM’s HyppTV, an IPTV service. The latest series of Top Gear will also be available exclusively on BBC Player.

This launch follow’s BBC Player’s first Asian foray into Singapore with a test for subscription services, as well as teasing a simulcast of TV series Sherlock in the island republic.

“Our latest partnership with BBC Worldwide to launch BBC Player will allow us to super serve our viewers with quality content from the BBC that they can watch anytime, anywhere, true to TM’s promise of ‘Life Made Easier’,” said Jeremy Kung, executive vice president, new media, TM.

“Now, with BBC Player, we will be able to give Malaysians even more ways to watch their favorite content – as we deliver BBC’s signature content seamlessly across our Malaysian customers’ devices, deepening their overall entertainment experience,” said Myleeta Aga, senior vice president and general manager of South Asia and South East Asia, BBC Worldwide.
