Sony Pictures Television partners Imagine Group to produce original TV series in Asia
Sony Pictures Television Networks Asia is partnering Imagine Group to produce a pipeline of original series for AXN and Sony Channel.
Sony teams up with Imagine Group to produce a slate of original shows
The Apartment: Rising Stars Edition will be the first on the slate to premiere, with other popular reality shows such as The Challenger and Fit for Fashion to follow.
The Sony Channel will run The Apartment: Rising Stars Edition from March 16, where 12 interior designers will compete to win the grand prize of $100,000.
“We look forward to leveraging Imagine’s expertise to premiere content that resonates with our viewers and encourages social engagement for both AXN and Sony Channel,” said Virginia Lim, senior vice president and head of content, Production and Marketing, Sony Pictures Television Networks, Asia.
“We have worked closely with SPT Networks over the last decade and are now pleased to be building a deeper strategic partnership for the coming years,” said Riaz Mehta, president and founder, Imagine Group.
Launching original TV series appears to be a move to retain viewers, as pay-tv continues its fight with over-the-top players that continues to churn out hit after hit.
