Samsung head denies all charges

On trial for bribery, embezzlement and perjury charges, Lee is being charged as part of the larger corruption scandal involving South Korean president Park Sang-Jin.

Specifically, he has been accused of promising monetary rewards (up to £30.4m) to a friend of the South Korean President. In return, it's claimed he wanted government support of his claim to succeed in control the conglomerate founded by his grandfather. His arrest was initially issued by the The Seoul Central District Court.

Lee was not at the hearing as a defendant’s attendance is not required during a preparatory hearing. Samsung continues to deny any wrongdoing on its part and the trial continues.
