Jaguar Land Rover pulls ads amid 'terror investigations'

According to reports the car marque's programmatic ads were among a number of other brands indirectly paying Islamic extremists, white supremacists and pornographers, Driving.co.uk reports.

In a statement to the website Jaguar Land Rover said: “Jaguar Land Rover is very concerned by reports that advertising featuring our brands may benefit extremist and other inappropriate on-line media. This is an unintended consequence of algorithm technology used on some video-sharing websites.

“We take our brands’ reputation very seriously and have decided to stop all UK digital advertising activity until further investigation gives us assurance that we can resume it safely.”

Ads for the Jaguar F-Pace have appeared on YouTube next to a pro-Isis video that has been viewed more than 115,000 times. It has since been removed.

It's the latest brand to review its media advertising channels after a report last week found that some of the world's biggest brands were inadvertently funding extremism and pornagraphy. The reports prompted Mercedes-Benz to ask all of its marketing and media agencies to review, and "if necessary update" its safe media lists to lessen the risk of its ads being misplaced.
